Number Mats with Formation Guides – Half Page Size – Foundation Font 0-9
These Number Mats With Formation Guides (Half Page Size) in Foundation Font are great for learning number recognition and number formation through play.
Features:
* Numbers from 0-9
* Number guides (starting point and arrows for direction) to help children learn correct numeral formation.
* NSW/ACT Foundation Font, but most numbers are similar across Australia and New Zealand.
* Half page size, 2 numbers per page. Cut to make 2 small mats.
* Black and white
* Smaller size is handy for allowing more space on the table.
Uses:
* Play dough mat (laminate). Children place play dough inside the number to make its shape.
* Loose Parts Mat. Children place loose parts along the number to help embed the shape in their memory.
* Craft Template: Children create an artwork eg. by drawing, painting inside the letter, pasting/gluing craft materials such as glitter, feathers, scrunched tissue paper etc.
* Number sense and counting: children count out the corresponding number of objects/loose parts and put them on the mat. They could also draw that number of dots, stick on that number of stickers, stamp that number of stamps etc.
* Number Recognition Activities. Eg. Write a range of numbers onto a sheet of dot stickers and children match and stick the right stickers onto the right number.
* Number Formation. Children use the guides to help them trace inside the numbers with their finger or with a pencil (laminate to use with dry erase markers).
* Number Composition. Children write on the page as many ways as they can think of to make that number eg. For number 9 they could write (or draw) 5 and 4, 8 and 1, 7 and 2 etc.
* Number Operations. Children write on the page as many ways as they can think of to arrive at that number using number operations (+ - x ÷). For example, for number 7 they could write: 3+4, 10-3, 2+2+2+1, 21÷3 etc.
