Paper Chain Tempate – Christmas Design
This paper chain template (with a vibrant Christmas design) is a great guide to help younger children cut paper strips to make a paper chain.
Cut off the edges, then the children can cut down the lines to make their paper chain strips with independence. Bend the strips into a circle shape then use tape to keep the circle together. Thread the next strip through the previous circle to link it together and repeat until you have a chain.
Making paper chains is so much fun! It can be a fantastic teamwork activity, it’s great for developing critical thinking skills and fine motor skills, not to mention the math concepts you can teach through this activity!
Ideas for Use:
* Compare and order the length of chains.
* Challenge the kids to make a chain of a certain length.
* Measure chains with informal units or formal units using a measuring tape.
* Patterns: challenge children to keep a repeating red-green pattern.
* Fun craft/design activity.
* Count-down chain. When counting down days or hours until a Christmas make a chain containing the number of links that corresponds to the number of days to go (typically 24, but you don’t have to start at the 1st of December). Children take off one link each day to give a visual representation of how many days remaining until Christmas.
