Multiplication Mats – Dinosaur World

These Dinosaur World Multiplication Mats are fantastic for helping children develop an understanding of the concept of multiplication. Present these mats with a collection of manipulatives (small objects) for the children to use to make equal groups and find their total.

Ideas for Use:

* Small plastic dinosaurs go really well with the Dinosaur World mats as manipulatives.

* Laminate for longevity and reuse over and over with dry erase markers.

* When they are ready, use our multiplication cards to give students an equation to make on the mat (we have a dinosaur set!). This helps bridge the understanding of what they are doing with making groups and the written algorithm.

Tip! While children are beginning to learn the concept of multiplication, use words like “groups of” rather than “times” or “multiplied by”, as this makes it easier for them to understand the concept.

If the child/children are not ready to start recording yet, we have Grouping and Sharing mats without the recording written on them.
