Multiplication Mats – Pet Food Bowls

These Pet Food Bowls Multiplication Mats are fantastic for helping children develop an understanding of the concept of multiplication. Present these mats with a collection of manipulatives (small objects) for the children to use to make equal groups and find their total.

Features:

* Contains mats for up to 10 groups.

* Contains versions without the pieces of food near the bowls (just incase these pieces in the picture confuse their math work),

* Contains versions with plain white background - only the bowls - for if you need to use less ink.

Ideas for Use:

* Little plastic bones (a lot of people have them for Halloween), beads or little balls of play dough go really well with the pet food bowls as manipulatives.

* Laminate for longevity and reuse over and over with dry erase markers.

* Use our multiplication cards (we have a Puppies set!) to give students an equation to make on the mat. This helps bridge their understanding of making groups and the written equation.

Tip! While children are beginning to learn the concept of multiplication, use words like “groups of” rather than “times” or “multiplied by”, as this makes it easier for them to understand the concept.
